The unique easytoreach, easytofind pullchain on the base operates the switch. Made in England, yes, but the mirrors are UL Approved and wired for US electrical current. These mirrors should be installed by a licensed electrician. (Attaches to a standard 2" x 3" electrical box.) Lighting is provided by a circular warmwhite fluorescent lamp in the mirror housing. "Warmwhite" lamps provide more natural lighting than ordinary "coolwhite" fluorescent. The light itself emanates from the ring at the edge of the mirror, and brightly illuminates the face, not the mirror. The mirror tilts and swivels on its mount, and the double swing arms both pivot so you can adjust this to your prefect viewing angle. 5x magnification gives you a large, bright image. Extension to 17" for the 9.25" mirror.
